Academic Honor Policy:
Participants in my courses are expected
to observe the standards of academic integrity set forth in the Students
Rights and Responsibilities section of the University of
Michigan-Flint Catalog. These standards are critical because intellectual
integrity is the most fundamental value of an academic community.
At the same time, it is helpful to clarify the role of
collaborative learning and its relationship to these standards of academic integrity.
I believe it is clear that much of the richness in any organizational setting -
among and between learners - both in and outside of formal classroom settings. I
encourage and support such collaborative learning and believe it can be completely
consistent with these standards of academic integrity.
I encourage and expect collaboration among learners. Feel
free to discuss assignments, issues and questions with other students. However, when
it come time to submit written work for grading, I expect, indeed insist, that the
submitted work must be your individual work. While it is OK to receive help
with a program assignment you are working on; the program you hand in is to be your own
work. If duplicate or essentially duplicate programs are handed in, both
students will receive a 0 for the assignment. Multiple occurrences of
plagiarism may result in action ranging from reduced grade or failure of a course, to
expulsion from the University or revocation of degree.

The Late Assignment Policy in
all of my courses unless specifically specified otherwise is to deduct
10%
of the total point value of an assignment for each
day
that it is late. After one week of due date
assignments are worth 0 points.
Attendance: Regular attendance is an
important element in your successful completion of this course. If you miss class
when a quiz or lab assignment is given and collected that day, you may not make-up
the quiz.
Students with Disabilities:
Students with disabilities that may restrict their full
participation in course activities are encouraged to meet with the
instructor or to contact the
Office of Accessibility Services (part of
the Student Development
Center, located at 264 University Center).
