High School Programming Contest by the University of Michigan - Flintand the Student Chapter of ACM

The 13th Annual High School Programming Contest

Held on the UM-Flint campus on Fri. May 7, 2004. There were 27 teams (of 3 each) students from 14 area high schools participated in this challenge of the minds event with high stakes!

This challenge of the mind contest happens on the first Friday of May every year and is run by Dr. R. Shantaram, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Engineering Science, and Physics under the auspices of the department and the ACM Student chapter on campus. The principal benefactor of the event is the Flint Area School Employees Credit Union and other area businesses as well as many units of the university of Michigan-flint.

Prizes, Prizes, Prizes, Prizes:

>The winning team members received (each) $150 cash award. They also became eligible for a one year tuition scholarship at UM-Flint if they enroll here after graduating from high school.

>The runner up team members received (each) $100 cash award. They also became eligible for a one semester tuition scholarship at UM-Flint if they enroll here after graduating from high school.

>The third place team members received (each) $50 cash award.

>The fourth place team members received (each) $25 cash award.

>The top 3 winning teams ’ schools received trophies to take to their schools.


No Entry Fee
There is no entry fee to participate in this event. All contestants receive a free t-shirt, lunch, and an opportunity to win door prizes in addition to the winning team prizes.

Schools from across the state:
Schools from as far away as the upper peninsula, and Kalamazoo participated in this contest.
